HIF
The HIF Three-week Intensive Program for Advanced Learners offers unique opportunities for Japanese language learners who have already acquired intermediate level Japanese proficiency to advance their proficiency and deepen their understanding in Japan. Class instruction is a university level and intensive to improve communication skills in all aspects of Japanese language with the following combination.
Japanese language proficiency incorporates grammatical competence as well as socio-linguistic, discourse and strategic competencies. Moreover, Japanese language is a high-context language requiring communicators to understand non-verbalized meanings in context. HIF's intensive summer program will help you to develop comprehensive competences.

Certificate
Participants who satisfactorily complete the three–week intensive program for the advanced learners will receive certificates of completion and grade transcripts. Since HIF is not an incorprated educational institution, participants are responsible for consulting their academic dean to transfer HIF credits to their home institutions.

*Level is determined in accordance with the proficiency guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
※Joint class with the HIF Japanese Language and Japanese Culture Program is scheduled once or twice during the program duration.
Japanese culture experiences
Language acquisition and cultural understanding go hand in hand. Japanese culture experiences like, Japanese dance, Kyudo, Judo, and Squid fishing, etc are scheduled.
Exchange with Local people
Many activities allow participants to meet local Japanese people and experience Japanese society outside of classroom. Some of these opportunities include prosecutor's office & Court of Justice visit, fish market auction visit, volunteer activities, farm experience, Hakodate dockyard visit, and exchange with local university students etc.
Japanese Only Rule(日本語だけルール)
All participants must observe the Nihongo-Dake (Japanese Only) Rule from the moment they enter designated areas of the school building. Participants are encouraged to avoid using languages other than Japanese to maximize learning in the program.
