Arrive in Hakodate
Participants who apply for the Group Travel Plan will check in at the assigned hotel in Tokyo on June 9(Wed) (where an HIF guide will be staying with you) and fly to Hakodate on June 10(Thu). Details on the Group Travel Plan will be provided to those accepted to the program.

Daily Class Schedule

Compulsory Courses
  1. Basic Japanese classes
    1 : 9:00 - 9:15 (Ohayo time*)
    2 : 9:15 - 10:05
    3 : 10:15 - 11:05
    Break : 11:05 - 11:25
    4 : 11:25 - 12:15
    * Ohayo time: Student-led presentation of announcements, quizzes, short speech, and other daily activities in Japanese.
  2. Independent study (Report to supervisor at least once a week in the afternoon)
  3. Special lectures 13:15-14:45 (3 lectures total)
  4. Special events (Onuma trip, speech contest - other events to be announced)
Optional Courses *These courses will not be graded, but participation is highly recommended.
  1. Japanese culture classes (2 or 3 times a week 13:15-14:45)
    Kimono culture and etiquette, igo, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, traditional confectionery making, calligraphy, pottery making, Japanese cooking, etc.
    * Some classes require fees for materials.
  2. Exchanges with local people
    Elementary school visit, club activities at high schools, exchanges with local university students, local festivals, appearance in radio shows, etc.
