It includes helpful hints to give you a confident start. Printed and bounded copies will be handed out at the orientation.
Japanese culture classes
HIF Japanese culture classes are for beginners. If you are very experienced and wish to take extra classes individually, please contact HIF in advance. HIF might be able to arrange teachers or teams for you, but you may have to pay the fee by yourself.
Independent Study
You are strongly encouraged to think of a topic/theme /outline for your independent study before coming to Hakodate. This will provide you with sufficient time for a full discussion of your project's objectives, methods, timelines etc with instructors.

Your independent study project is not limited to a research project or a PowerPoint presentation. You may, for example, make a documentary film and set up a screening; take a local culture course and present what you've learned; or maintain a blog about a topic of interest related to Hakodate, Japanese society or your major.
Ideally, you should be able to continue research on the topic after returning to your home country. Therefore, we encourage you to find a topic or activity that truly interests you. Your achievements through this project will be highly valued. You are welcome to take to Japan with you any special materials that you wish for your independent study.
Host family Information
You will receive information about your chosen host family to the e-mail address you provided in your application forms. HIF is hoping to e-mail your host family information in early June at the latest.
Return Tickets from Hakodate to Tokyo in August
You can book discounted flight tickets (domestic) in the following URL from May 1.
HIF does not offer a group travel plan from Hakodate to Narita because it will be more expensive than if you purchase by yourself. The 8 week intensive Japanese study at HIF will provide you with enough communication skill to travel by yourself.

2) Down load the PuPuRu Application Form for HIF Participants
3) Fill in the form, save it, and send the file to PuPuRu International Inc as a PDF file attachment together with scanned photo copy or jpeg file of your passport information page. E-mail: sales@pupuru.com
4) PuPuRu will confirm your request by e-mail within two business days after receiving your application, and approval from your card issuer.
5) You will receive your cell phone at HIF on the start date indicated in your contract.
