Application Schedule – Summer 2019

All the dates mentioned in this website are based on Japan Standard Time (JST). Japan does NOT observe daylight savings time.

November 1, 2018 Application opens
February 8, 2019 Application closes at 23:59 (JST)
By March 1, 2019 Screening Results Announcement
Accepted students must confirm their participation within 3 days after the screening results announcement.
March15, 2019 Program Fee Payment Deadline

Notes:
Late application will be accepted only when spots are available.
The confirmation and payment deadlines are negotiable under these limited conditions: 1) you are accepted from the waiting list close to the deadlines; 2) you are waiting for a scholarship result to come out.

Accepted students who are waiting for a scholarship result

If you apply for a scholarship and its result does not come out by HIF’s screening results announcement date, you may request to postpone your confirmation deadline and your program fee payment deadline for the HIF program by submitting the following three items to HIF:

  • 1) some kind of document(s) to prove that you have applied for the scholarship;
  • 2) approximate date (or exact date if possible) when you will receive the result of your scholarship application; and
  • 3) US$100 commitment deposit. Non-refundable. This deposit will apply toward your program fee once you confirm your participation. (i.e., The remaining balance of the program fee will be US$5,600 out of US$5,700.)

The latest possible date to postpone your confirmation deadline is April 15, 2019 (JST). Payment of your program fee must be confirmed by HIF by the end of May 2019 (JST) at the latest.
